报告简介:
This year's Nobel Prize for Thouless is obviously overdue. As far as I can tell, Thouless missed twice for Nobel Prize for another two of his important contributions. In this talk I will give a personal account of the starting of topological phase transitions--initially completely ignored, now a mighty trend in research--some of you may have heard the gossip that our Chinese could get Nobel prize in this field, too. Also, I will give a simple account of my own experience working with Thouless, a true master. I will make my talk useful not only to physics students, also to non-physics science students, even to those without math training but simply wish to learn a bit on how real science has been made.
